This week we walked to Worle library and had some time to share a story and understand what we can do there. We all thoroughly enjoyed this and it tasted good too! We have created our own story maps to help us retell the story. One activity which we have done alongside the story is baking bread. Over the last two weeks we have been learning to recite the story ‘The Little Red Hen’. Reading Quest: Jasmine, Axel, Rex, Layla, Harrison, Oscar L, Poppy R, Phoebe (Bronze)Īll the children have settled in beautifully after the Christmas break and it has been lovely talking with them about what they have done. Workers of the Week: Thomas H, Rubaida, Isla C, Brodie Stars of the Week: Riley, Oliver, Jacob L, Layla If anyone has any old school trousers or socks that could be donated to our spare clothes supply, we would be very grateful! Don't forget that every Wednesday it is our PEĭay so the children can come to school in their PE kits with daps or trainers. In maths, we have been focusing on shapes. We are so proud of all the children as they become more confident in writing in their phonics books. A digraph is two letters put together to make one sound. This week in phonics, we have been starting to learn some digraphs. The children had great fun trying on some of the uniform, exploring and pressing some of the buttons in the police van! We were told about the role of police officers and PCSOs and how they help us. The children in EYFS had some very exciting visitors last week when the police came into school. If your child has anything pirate themed (striped t shirts, shorts, hat, bandana) and they would like to wear it they are very welcome. Thursday 26 th May is our pirate dress up day. Keep them coming!Īs the weather is getting warmer please ensure jumpers, cardigans and fleeces are named many are getting muddled up! Please make sure that your child brings a named water bottle every day. It has been lovely to see lots of entries on Tapestry and the children really enjoy sharing them with their friends. We are looking forward to seeing you all there. If you are unsure of any details please talk to a member of the EYFS team. This Friday (20 th May) is our after school bike event. In maths we have been doubling and halving numbers and practising our number bonds to 5 and 10. We are well underway with our key text ‘Ten Little Pirates’ and have started creating lots of different pirate themed items! We are learning a pirate dance and attempting to learn a sea shanty as well. What an amazing couple of weeks we have had.
